Besides any kids birthday in my class, my favorite part of school had to be the field trip.
You get to go see something cool. AND not do math. What’s not to love? We used to go to the Colorado capital building in Denver, and I never got tired of the story of the building’s gold-flaked dome.
“You might find flakes of gold in your hair tonight when you lay down to sleep!” the tour guide said.
I was gonna be rich.
Every month, I compile a post called 6 Words. Ernest Hemingway inspired it when he said any story can be told in a six-word sentence. I ask bloggers, friends, strangers, and a few strange blogger friends to respond to a prompt.

love some of the creative responses! gotta say, I am definitely on board for Disney!
Some of them, eh? Lots of Disney floating around here for sure.
let’s face it – I’d go pretty much anywhere at this point. I went to a different grocery store today and that alone felt like an adventure. 🙂
That shit’s exotic, Rore. A new grocery store – and they probably considered you the mysterious stranger, maybe a drifter passing through town.
(It’s also hard to find the animal cookies in a store you’re not familiar with, so it’s not all fun and games.)
Thank you for including me again. Cedar Point does Halloween too..best of all worlds if you like that. I like the meteor shower best though. Jaded.
That meteor shower would rock.
So many here that I love including number 32, but after last night’s nail biting game not so sure right about now. But still thank you as always for including me once again this month 😉
It’s just one game – that’s what we Rockies fans tell ourselves from June to September, anyway.
Glad you were in it Janine!
You and my husband would get along famously as they is exactly what he said this morning!! 😉
There’s life, there’s love, there’s pizza, and then there’s baseball. And when your team is in the World Series … that’s all that matters.
So true and perfectly said!!!
To a galaxy, far, far away… 🙂
Jaded’s advice just reminded me that we didn’t ride any roller coasters/go to any amusement parks this last season. I need to plan that out as soon as the parks reopen in the spring.
Wouldn’t that be cool? I guess this weekend is the last day of amusement parks around here … might get in under the gun.
I’m not riding anything higher than the McDonald’s arches, however.
field trips, birthdays and snow days are the best. love this list )
How about a field trip on a Wednesday, a birthday on a Thursday and getting snowed in on a Friday? it’s cosmically aligned if that happens.
Now there’s a nice bunch of options 🙂
you could just pick one out of a hat and go with it, Lyn.
I like the one where winter isn’t a cuss word. That’s the best place to be, anytime.
I wonder if it is here, Andrea, in Carolina. The only cursing I do here is like, “where’t the !@#$! snow?”
With all those choices you chose ducks–winner! Fun post!
There’s a profound peace in feeding the ducks, Cricket. I know this! Glad you enjoyed the list.
Any and all of these sound good to me!
You could start from the top and go to the bottom, Torrie.
So are you feeding the ducks the crust from your pizza? I think that’s the best part. Perfectly timed post for this rainy Wednesday!
Heck no, Dana. Crusts are for me. I’ve got a handful of those duck pellets you get in the vending machine for a quarter! It’s a rainy mess here in Carolina today too.
A lot of Star wars fans, YEAH! Love all the brilliant ideas!
Awesomeness loves company, Tiff. Glad to have you along!
hehe. I’m always in a galaxy Far Far away. These made me giggle. And realize a fellow blogger is my neighbor. What!? #19
You’ve found a new home, I think. Lots of Star Wars going on around here. Giggling’s fine, but your co-workers are going to think you’re looking at Donald Trump Vines again.
Is that you in the boat in that picture by the rubber duck?
It could be… I’m everywhere! And they usually catch me watching the IT crowd.
I’m not going to ask about NFL allegiances or anything.
It’s probably best
So many of these sound good right now. And some bring back great memories (Hanging Rock, New Orleans, Paris….) Great 6 Words!
I’d take one today given a chance, Cassandra. You’ve got a few of them checked off already.
Oh my goodness. Me too. Somewhere very far away from my work. And sunny. And warm.
I’d settle for sunny and unseasonably cool.
Thanks for the fun, Eli! (`・ω・´)”
Thanks for being part of it Pat!
My pleasure! (^-^*)/
Love this list Eli!! Always fun to read.. hay rides, western Wyoming, sandy beaches.. Sounds like some fun field trips to me.
Thanks Vicki! We packed them in this time. Good stuff.
Judging by the number of Star Wars field trips, I think we should all go together.
Where two are more are gathered … wait, that’s about something else, but it could work, Ned.
When it comes to Star Wars, there is love…
Deuteronomy, 33 6-7.
I think I’ve seen that being held up at football games before.
In oakland, they misspell Deuteronomy.
Wow! What a bunch of fun ideas!!! I want to go on all of these field trips! 🙂
Right? I knew y’all would fill the calendar. Even the snakes in the petting zoo one, Lisa?
So fun to read these! They all sound like pretty amazing field trips, especially the happy hour one 🙂
Wonder how many the school board would approve, Christine. The happy hour one should come automatically after each of the others.
This is so fun – I love the variety you got! Made me smile on this dreary day. Thank you Eli!
It’s a pretty mixed-up crowd around here, so the variety comes with that! Glad it brought you a smile, Julia. Thanks for taking part.
Yes, I need some beignets! Mmm….
A warm beignet (or three), a cup of hot chocolate, the sports section of the newspaper and a pair of slippers.
So many great ones – you are going to be so busy redeeming all those invitations!
I think I’ll schedule one a week and let whoever sent the idea in plan it.
hah.. #3. I’ll skip that one, although plenty of these look magical.
#11 is exactly my life.
Aw.. shelter cats! Aw.. more Star Wars! Aw.. crocodile farm??
These are my kind of people.
The blindfolds took that one over the top, Tamara. #11 is perfect, and I’d go walk around the mall or uptown while I was all geared up, too.
Cats, Star Wars, crocs … if this were a summer camp, I’d sign up. I love this tribe.
Hanging Rock is a great option too 🙂
I wouldn’t say no to it, especially Window Falls.
Haha, yours is by far my favorite. You and your pizza. 🙂 I also LOVE that Lemony Snicket quote. Great list, as usual. Can’t wait to hear next month’s topic!
Thanks! Pizza seemed like a natural progression, and I miss that tranquility and peaceful feeling of feeding the ducks. I understand now why old folks like to do this.
Lemony Snicket just felt perfect for this, didn’t it? Glad you liked the list.
I already have the November prompt dragged out. You’re going to love this one, Britta.
Haha!!!! I would love to go on most of these field trips….. Some may be a bit scary 😉
There’s some for every type in here, Debbie. The scary ones might be just what some of us need!
These all sound like fabulous places to field trip to! Except the insane asylum. I’ll pass on that one lol.
We should forward this to the school board. I figured people would be less enthused about the run with hills than any haunted visits!
Omg, this was fun CD. I’d have to go with #4 Pumpkin patch in full costume. It’s October after all why not?!! Then again, an insane asylum might be fun….WITHOUT the blindfolds. mwa-ha-ha!! Sharing now!! xo 😉
Glad you liked it! No. 4 is all out, which is good for field trip material. Even into November, because I know the pumpkin stuff won’t stop just because October did.
Add ‘blindfolded’ to any of the other ideas for some fun.
The air and space museum, DC.
I’d so be there, brother.
That was my favorite museum to visit in DC. The Natural History museum was a close second.
I always love this feature Eli!
Thanks Rena – it’s a blast to compile.
Thanks for including me in your list this month, Eli! There were a lot of great trips and variety. Had to laugh at a few of them, too.
Thanks for joining the circus Janna – I’ll email you the next prompt if you’re interested. This gang always brings it!
