Guest Post: Britta of It’s a Britta Bottle, On Choosing to Let Life Happen

britta lead 2

We’ve become multi-generational around these parts.

guest postI won’t point out by name the older of our friends here on the CD. It’s okay, though, to talk about the younger people. Younger people, such as today’s guest poster, Britta Buchanan of It’s a Britta Bottle! blog.

Britta’s on that brink of life we all knew at some point – with school behind us and the rest of our lives ahead of us. She writes brilliantly about the transition and her approach.

I hope her words also serve to remind us that we can find ourselves on this cusp in any part of life. This adventure isn’t exclusive to the young.

Dad’s crafty.

GUEST POST GRAPHICI don’t mean in a Pinterest, Katie Brown kind of way. I mean sly, crafty. Not only for hiding ginger snaps in the car so the kids don’t kill the box before I can. I mean sometimes, dad can trick the kids.

That goes against the laws of nature. And what we expect from the Disney Channel.  Today, Rachael from Three Boys and a Mom has me over to talk about it.

[See my guest post by clicking here]

Learn ways a dad can fool his kids into learning stuff. It can work for moms, too. Are you the only grownup in the grocery store with a gaggle of children? Watching the ball game with the kids, but their interest has waned?

You’ll find Nos. 2 and 4 particularly helpful.

Guest Post: Megan Bearce, LMFT, on Lessons from the USWNT

megan ledeI spend eons on the road.

guest postSeriously, eons. Like, enough to log 37 hours or so of NPR (and lately Pandora action by James Taylor, Kesha and the like). I’m a road warrior. I’m also dad of three gifted girls. But you knew that. Why am I telling you this?

Today’s guest blogger knows commuters and gifted girls well. Welcome Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Megan Bearce. I found her while researching a story for work on how to beat a rough commute. She’s a mom and a writer.

She’s also author of the book Super Commuter Couples: Staying Together When a Job Keeps You Apart.

Gina’s totally full of it.

guest postHer blog’s full of it, too. Need proof? Her blog’s called Full of It, even. Almost two years ago, Gina burst onto the Coach Daddy scene to ask guest poster Jennifer of Another Jennifer blog if the Wienermobile was hollow.

Gina got into the first 6 words post, then declared, and I quote, “Imma share the shit out of this.”

Gina’s guest post today is about tests of endurance she’s faced as a mom. Gina’s also a wife, former pro modern dancer and blogger. She’s a self-proclaimed butt-wiper, paper-airplane maker, house D.J. and more.

Topps makes Rising Stars baseball cards.

I assume they still do. When I was a kid, those cards were for promising rookies. Not all panned out. You might have a Chipper Jones or you might have a Laddie Renfroe. You just don’t know right away.

My guest writer today is a Rising Star.

You might already know Rachael Boley of Three Boys and a Mom. About 37 people claim to have ‘discovered’ Lady Antebellum in a Nashville dive bar. It doesn’t matter who found Rachael – or even Lady Antebellum – we should just be glad she’s here.

The meager comedy club that is Coach Daddy will host a big-time name today.

Mary Widdicks of Outmanned Mommy is in the CD hiz-ouse. She’s big-time. She’s won back-to-back Blog Her Voice of the Year awards. TheIndieChicks.com named Mary the 2014 Badass Blog Awards Blogger of the Year.

She’s in the books Clash of the Couples and Mother of All Meltdowns, among others.

Mary contributes regularly to 6 Words and inspired a post of mine, My Body is an Automobile. She’s outnumbered by boys in her house but is about to have her first daughter. Like, any day. And she’s still going to Blog U.

👨 A to Z Challenge: M is for Man (a Guest Post from Alyson of the Shitastrophy)

Sometimes our sports heroes are role models. But not always.

CD az challengeToday in the A to Z Challenge, M is for Man. As in, being the man. Not in a Ric Flair kind of way. Not even in a “You Da Man!” kind of way we react to a strong swing off the tee.

Being a man requires strength, yes, but it’s often a gentle strength. Or at least a compassionate one. It’s doused with humility. It shows an appreciation for the human condition, the value of every moment you can make a difference.

Today’s guest post is from Alyson, from The Shitastrophy blog.

Yes, you read that right. Alyson has eight bad words – including the F word – in her banner. She’s kind of badass. She’s a bully of a blogger, too, a Jersey girl living in a Midwest not ready for prime time. Not this sort of prime time.

A to Z Challenge: G is for Guest Post (From Robin, of Masshole Mommy)

CGP

I know – that one was easy.

CD az challengeIn the A to Z Challenge, G is for Guest Post. Convenient, that this falls on Wednesday, my usual spot for guest posts. Especially because my guest poster today – Robin, of Masshole Mommy – has no Gs in her blog name.

She’s here writing about life before her two Gs though – her sons. What is a G, you ask? Let’s refer to the Urban Dictionary for all my homies from the other side of the tracks (and by that I mean any neighborhood nicer than mine):

G – (jee) A real G can be defined as someone who is true to themself and stood the test of time as a robust individual, whom did not change under rough circumstances.

Today is Day 1 of the A to Z Challenge. And that’s not an April Fool’s joke.

CD az challengeA is for Adults today on the CD. To kick off the month-long challenge to cover all 26 letters by the end of April, I’ve brought in a pinch hitter. Please welcome Louise, of Baby Gates Down blog. She’s a fantastic Canadian blogger and mother of two. She’s been a friend of the CD for more than a year, first chiming in on a 6 words post, then regaling us with tales of life as the mother of kids leaving toddlerdom.

Her writing is snappy and fresh, and she’s among the very best commenters ever (as well as a regular 6 words contributor). Check out this link to learn why her blog is called Baby Gates Down in the first place. I won’t ruin the story.

I’m happy to finally have Louise guest post here. She’s a blogger, like me, with roots in journalism, but for whom parenthood has colored her words more than anything. I adore her style and appreciate her words especially for the #1000speak movement.

👶 Guest Post: Katie of Pick Any Two, on Toddlers in Sports

By giving up, Katie of Pick Any Two blog gained so much.

guest postKatie’s blog speaks to the concession that a mom can do anything – but not everything. Katie found something on Pinterest (I guess you can do more than recipes and Lizzie O’Leary photos on there) that became a philosophy.

Katie explains it like this:

Pick Any Two: Giving up the “have it all” mentality and, instead, making choices without apology or guilt. I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling better already.
