About

I’m Eli. I’m a coach, writer, and dad. Sometimes, all at once.

Sometimes, it’s hard to see the difference! That’s why this blog is called Coach Daddy.

I have some pretty cool friends. And I love when they guest blog around here. My childhood was a collection of embarrassing stories that seemed to fit my future as a blogger. Way before blogs even existed.

I’m also lucky enough to guest post on some cool blogs, too.

Monday: Feature posts. Mostly on being mindful, but also sometimes about tacos.

Drawing by Elise
Me, as drawn by Madison.

Wednesday: Go Ask Daddy. My girls have asked me a trillion questions. I answer them on this day. Five at a time.

Thursday: Guest posts or #GirlsRock interviews. Both have yielded some incredible people. Curation happens on this day, with 6 Words posts, in which I ask friends, strangers, bloggers, and strange blogger friends to chime in on a prompt in exactly six words.

If you email me, or if I wind up on your blog that month, there’s a good chance I’ll ask you for your contribution.

You might also see random smart phone photo posts. It’s good to have a non-crappy phone. Thanks, girls.

Friday: It’s time for gratitude. To keep things real, they’re hashtagged #gratitudeandshit. Come add your things of thanks.

Saturday/Sunday: Curation continues with Weekend Reads. I’ll share a handful of posts for you to check out on other blogs for a little weekend reading action.

This began as a blog about fatherhood and coaching soccer. I’ve found so many similarities. I’ve also discovered ways in which the experiences impact life. And how life can impact fatherhood and coaching.

I’m a Broncos fan and a dreamer. I’ve done cool challenges, such as the photo a day challenge. You can guess what that entailed.

I’m not much of a winner, but that’s okay with me. It’s allowed me to become a better coach, a better writer, and, hopefully, a better dad.

I write letters, too. Sometimes events move me, and it takes me a while, but I’ll address it. I believe in patience, the power of a comment, and the persistence of being kind and sharing things, even pizza. Well, maybe not pizza.

Consider me a contribution to science, and goodwill worldwide, coming at you three times a week.

Or just a distraction.

Either/or. Thanks for the page hit.

Let me hear from you, too.

Eli

    Hi there!
I chose you to play along with the Liebster Awards. Feel free to stop by and play.
No worries if it’s not your cup-of-tea, but it would be fun to get to know you better!
    Have a great day!

    Liesbter? me? *blushes*

  2. Seriously….where have I been? What a great mission and site filled with warm and kind words. Any daddy with three daughters has something a little extra to offer the world and I’m so happy our paths crossed this week. I’m on a bit of a writing break…but, I’ll be seeing you around 🙂

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

I’m just glad you’re here now – and I hope soon I will rummage around in your pages wondering where *I’ve* been. I’m humbled by what my incredible readers have helped create here.

I feel like as a dad of three daughters, the world has so much to offer me. And just think, all it took was six songs. If you did one of those posts, could you send me a link to it?

      1. Aren’t readers the best? I’m making time to be a better reader myself because I’m so grateful to anyone who takes the time to look at my chaos.
I did find our 6 songs post. Christy, Jennie and I did the very first one.

        http://runningonsober.com/2014/03/10/life-in-6-songs-a-new-series/

As you’ll see, we each kept our entries short. It’s been awhile since I’ve read them…glad to say I’d pick the same songs:)

      2. Eli Pacheco says:

Reading what you wrote makes me hope you’ll write again. At least I have some catching up to do until you do! Interesting that you’d pick the same songs … I think sometimes if I wrote it again even today, it might be different.

  3. Hi, I just discovered you via Cynthia at You Signed Up for What?, she was featured in this month’s 6 words post. I have to say, this is the first blog I am subscribing to after just one visit. I looked around and love your perspective on life. Looking forward to your posts!

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

Hey Michele, welcome – Cynthia is quite the reference. I adore that girl. She does a great job with the 6 words, too, that’s why I keep her around.

      1. Britta says:

I’ve been blogging for a little over a year, but I only joined WordPress in May. My current blog, What is Past is Prologue, has only been in existence since August. I still consider myself pretty new to blogging so I really appreciate all the support I’ve been getting from the Word Press community. 🙂

      2. Eli Pacheco says:

This community is unbelievable. I’m going to send you an invite to something by email …

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

There are a few dads out here, but I’ve managed to piss most of them off. I’m down with groovy. I have your blog in my READ! folder and look forward to checking it out!

  12. margie44 says:

I have not had time to check out the blogs of all the folks who comment on mine, this has been an intense month for sure. but just now your title made me want to take a look and I really like your comments and thoughts.. Being the mother of three sons and one daughter raising kids was interesting. I never had a sister so was totally foreign about girls even though one myself. I had four brothers and that was my life, a male driven world, so enjoyed reading your blog. will be following it now, thanks

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

It’s so hard to find time to read when you write everyday! It’s been a blast, though. I’m a boy, but I feel raising a boy would be a challenge. I’d be up for it, though.

Glad we crossed paths, and I look forward to reading more of you.

  13. Hodgepodge 4 the Soul™ says:

Eli, how are you? 😀 I’m so glad that you stumbled upon my neck of the woods, otherwise I wouldn’t have found your blog. Thank you so much for the follow. I have done the same in return. Looking forward to seeing what goodies you have here. 😀 Have a great day.

  17. CHRIS MCLEOD says:

I appreciate your voice and what you are doing. Eli. Every daughter needs a father who reflects back to her that it is good to be strong and athletic. I look forward to reading more of your work.

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

Thanks Chris! I’ve always wanted my girls to have a soft center and tough edges – I’ve found that if I had to choose, I’d rather they had the edges and work on the center. That’s what’s happened, I think.

So glad to have you here, and look forward to our project. I’ll email you today!

  18. rachel says:

“I believe in the power of a comment, the value of others’ words, and that the good will eventually rise to the surface.”

…maybe you do write like a girl, because this sounds like something i would say.

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

Know what? I take that as a compliment, Rachel. Thanks.

  19. very original and personal About page and let’s not worry about gender-specific writing or what’s male or female, as long as we write as humans we should be fine 🙂

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

Thanks Laura! I just subscribed to yours. thank you for the award – it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, so I think I’ll give it a shot.

  21. Lulu says:

Eli, I’m literally laughing to myself in my living room after reading this, and I am grateful that the cat is the only one here to give me an odd look. I don’t know how to even explain why it is so poetic and so funny. You are a talented writer, to be certain, but I am also touched by your frankness and the topics of your blog. I especially love the “6 Word Post” and “Go Ask Daddy” themes. Can’t wait to read more!

    1. Eli Pacheco says:

Glad you made it over here, new friend. I look forward to reading of your adventures. I’d like to get you into the next six words post. What do you say?

      1. spearfruit says:

I could certainly try the six words post – no excuses – but I am very busy with moving and my health issues and finding it difficult to write as much as I would like- but I certainly will try. Thank you, I hope you have a great day! 🙂

      2. Eli Pacheco says:

I’ll send you the prompt by email, and it’ll be there if you can. No worries. Have a good one!
